Shibuya Punk Manifesto

Core Values

Shibuya Punk is a reimagining of punk through the lens of Gen Z’s Asian and diasporic communities. It’s about finding yourself amidst this entropic cyberpunk dystopia of the information age. It’s resistance powered by love, hope, and raw fire. We carry the punk spirit: anti-fascist, anti-capitalist, community-driven, defiant, youthful, and unapologetically loud. This isn’t just for rebellion’s sake, it’s about reigniting the passion in those who’ve been dulled by the machinery of this world.

Why Now

Music is dead. Art is dead. People stopped trying, and that is the real enemy. Shibuya Punk says it is cool to try. It is cool to live with fire, to love hard, and to fight apathy with passion. The world is greying, but we can reignite the spark and reconnect with each other and build the world we see for ourselves.

Our Mission

We want to inspire you to dance with each other, laugh with each other, sing for each other, and cry for each other. Every Shibuya Punk event should be a sanctuary where you can find your people and where passion burns bright against the gray.

“we buried our friends in the morning, we protested in the afternoon, and we danced all night. The dance kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for.” -Dan Savage

Shibuya Punk lives in that tension between struggle and joy and invites you to live it with us. We will never stop advocating for a better tomorrow, yet we cannot let the fighting turn our lives gray.

Sound & Aesthetic

Shibuya Punk speaks with a nostalgia for simpler times. The music we fell in love with when life seemed less complicated. Rooted in musicianship and a lifetime of listening, our sound is focused on one thing. We are not concerned with genre, labels, or industry. The only thesis is to make whatever feels good. Music is the soundtrack to your own story, and we are humbled to be apart of it.
